== What is Gold? ==

There are two types of currencies in The Far Wilds. One is Gold, the other is [[Power]]. You can purchase Gold from the Market Section, using Paypal or any other major credit card. With gold you can buy cards on the market, buy Starter Packs in the Market Section or use it to enter the various [[Tournaments]] that The Far Wilds has to offer. (Some Tournaments are totally free to play.)

== What is Power? ==

Unlike Gold, you can't buy Power with "real" money. It used to be something you gained if you were doing well in various [[Tournaments]]. For instance, you would get 4 Power if you won an [[Expert_Clash]], 2 if you were the runner up and 1 if you were third. You can enter Tournaments using Power and you can also sell it in exchange for Gold on the market. There is currently no way to win more power.

== What are Acorns? ==

Acorns are won in [[Tournaments]]. The [[Expert_Clash]] gives a 400 Acorn prize pool. You also earn Acorns at a certain rate per hour if you have less than 500 Acorns. Acorns are used to build your [[Kingdom]].

== What is my Kingdom? ==

Your kingdom is a sub-game of TFW funded by [[Acorns]]. You begin your kingdom by typing /king in the lobby. Find out more by visiting the [[Kingdom]] entry.

== How do I get an Avatar/Profile Picture? ==

Go to 'Options' in the top right corner of the interface. There is a drop down menu next to 'Avatar' where you will be able to select your desired picture.

== What is a Default card? ==

When you register an account, you are given three different pre-made armies from three different domains ([[Default_DarkLegion]],[[ Default_MountainFolk]] and [[Default_Sylvan]]), together with five Basic Buildings from all domains, including the other three currently existing domains (Elemental, Celestial Imperium and Horde of Chaos). Default cards, unlike [[Phantom]] cards and cards that you have bought, can’t be sold or traded. You can tell that a card is a Default Card by the fact that it is grayed out and has no expiry date. The exception to this rule is Default buildings which have their normal color.

Except for these differences, Default cards work in much the same way as other cards. Hence, you can include any variety of them in your decks (given that they adhere to the normal deck rules for each format), including the deck with which you enter the [[Expert_Clash]] .

== What is a Phantom card? ==

A [[Phantom]] card is like a Default Card in that it is grayed out and can’t be traded or sold. The difference is that it has an expiry date. When you receive a Phantom card, you will have it for X number of days, after which it is deleted from your army. You can acquire Phantom cards by playing on the weekly [[Ladder]] or by playing the computer (SarsAI). After each win against the computer, you acquire one Phantom card and if you are fortunate enough to be ranked at the top of the Ladder before it resets, you acquire 60 Phantom cards.

You can include any variety of Phantom cards in your decks (given that they adhere to the normal deck rules for each format), including the deck with which you enter the [[Expert_Clash]].

== Is this game really free to play? ==

It is possible to create entire decks from just phatoms if you put a lot of time in TFW. If you don't have that kind of time, so using money to buy gold is a way to get permanent cards you can build a solid deck around.

== Why are there no Elemental, Celestial Imperium, and Chaos Default Armies? ==

Mainly due to two factors:
1) No one has designed such a deck yet.
2) It would affect the market values of the cards used to build those default decks.

== What is the difference between the online verison and the download version? ==

Mainly better graphics and smarter computer. However, if you are an expert programmer, you can mess around with the download version's code and give the computer player new decks.

== What's a Ladder Rank? ==
A ladder rank is a weekly rank (separate from your in-game rank) that resets on certain days. You can increase your ladder rank by playing in Similar Player matches, and battling Similar Players (Players whose names are green) in Anyone Matches. Your ladder rank is always displayed on the top right corner of the screen along with your gold. You can click on you ladder rank (leftmost number) to display the top ranking ladder players. If your name is on the list, you will get a few phantom cards when the ladder rank resets.

== Why are somes of the names in the lobby green/red? ==

Red indicates a player currently in a game. As a result, you can't challenge them, although they may challenge you.

Green indicates a player that has a similar rank, and therefore if you battle this person in a similar player or another player battle, it affects your ladder rank.

== Do I HAVE to limit my deck to 40 cards? ==
No, but it's for your own good. Bigger deck sizes are harder to process in tournaments and slow the creation process down. Also bigger decks mean smaller chances to draw cards you may need in certain situations.

However, if you're still new to deck creating, don't be too afraid to bypass the limit. It may help you discover a playing style you like.

== My card just did something it didn't say it would. What should I do? ==

== What is a Phantom card? ==

== What's a Ladder Rank? ==

Not completley. It is possible to create entire decks from just phatoms if you put a lot of time in TFW, but normally you probably won't have that kind of time, so using money to buy gold is a way to get permanent cards you can build a solid deck around.
It is possible to win Power in the expert Clash though, which then can be sold for Gold.

== What's a Ladder Rank? ==

== What is Gold? ==

= What is Power? =

== How do I get an Avatar/Profile Picture? ==

Go to 'Options' in the top right corner of the interface. There is a drop down menu next to 'Avatar' where you will be able to select your desired picture.

== What is a Default card? ==

== What is a Phantom card? ==

The Far Wilds is a dynamic turn-based game. You create an army (a deck of cards) to battle your opponents, destroy their armies, control flux wells, gain glory, and win the game.

Each player has an army (deck of cards) that they bring into battle. Your army is composed of various cards that you pick out before the battle begins. You [[Deck_Building|Build your deck]] in the [[Army Building Screen]]. Once you start a battle players take turns moving units and playing cards until both players pass. Then the new round begins and you can move your units and play cards again.

The object of the game is to be the first player to reach 20 Glory. There are many cards that allow you to gain Glory in various ways. The most common way to gain glory is to control more [[Flux|Flux Wells]] than your opponents. The person that controls the most Flux Wells at the end of any round gains 2 Glory.

[http://thefarwilds.com/tutor/basic3/basic3.htm Quick Video Tutorial]

The Far Wilds website has an excellent [http://thefarwilds.com/How_to_play_Introduction.html How to Play Guide]

== Control ==

Control is one of the most important parts of the Far Wilds. Each player has an area of control, usually determined by your Buildings. Buildings give you control over any space they can see. If two players have Buildings that can see a given space that space is uncontrolled.

If you control a space that contains a Flux Well you gain control of that Flux Well.

[[Image:TFWcontrol.jpg|frame|center|]]
You can see here that you control the blue area around your two buildings. Your [[Bone Fortress]] has vision 2 so has a larger radius of control then your [[Grove]]. Your Astridian Forum is also a building but it has vision of zero so doesn't expand your area of control..

When two players have buildings that can see the same space. That space is considered contested and isn't under anyone's control.

[[Image:TFWcontrol2.jpg|frame|center|]]
In this example the enemy just placed an [[Earthworks]] and so we lost control of the center Flux Well. Note that even though our [[Altar of Ix]] and Bone Fortress can both see the center point it only takes one enemy building to make the space contested.

You can register for an account when you first start the game. Registering will automatically sign you up for an account on the [http://thefarwilds.com/forum/index.php forums].

=== The Lobby ===
[[Image:Lobbyintro.JPG|The Lobby]]

This is the screen you see once you log into the game. At the top you have three main tabs: Lobby, Army, and Market. The lobby is the main place to see all events. The left side shows the name of everyone who is logged on. Clicking on their name will pop up a menu where you can either send them a private message or trade with them. The center of the screen is the chat screen. On the right side you have a list of all games currently being played or waiting for a player (seen as a '''Join''' link next to a game). You can play the computer by clicking the '''Join''' link by the ''vs. Computer'' under the '''Special''' section.

=== The Market ===

The market is where you buy packs, starter decks, singles, or sell your cards. cards of your own. Gold is the currency of The Far Wilds. The fastest way to get gold is through the '''Purchase gold''' button. That will take you to a screen were you can buy gold. Another way is to participate in [[Tournaments]] to gain [[Power]], which an be used to enter Keep Cards and Domain Leagues or sold to other players. Once you have 150 gold you can buy a pack of 15 cards. Every pack of cards you buy will pop a window (see above image) and comes with 1 rare, 3 uncommon, and 11 common cards.

=== The Army ===

[[Image:Armyinto.JPG|Army Builder]]

This is where the magic of The Far Wilds happens. Once you have acquired packs of cards of your own you can [[Deck_Building|build a deck]].

On the left side of the screen you have the cards that you own. The right side is the list of cards you have picked to be in a deck. The top area is explained below.
Left to right: You can sort the ways you see the cards you have by types: Name, Domain, Type, and Level. This gives you different ways to see what you have. The next is another way for you to separate your cards out. You have the [[:Category:Unaligned|Unaligned]], [[Sylvan]], [[Mountain Folk]], [[Dark Legion]], and [[Elemental]] domains. Then you go to the type of card: [[:Category:Spell|Spells]], [[:Category:Building|Buildings]], [[:Category:Enchantment|Enchantments]], and [[:Category:Creature|Creatures]]. The last set of numbers is the tier of domain, or how many of the domains you must have out on the field to play the card. The last set of buttons deal with saving, copying, or deleting decks that you have made.

One of the things you may want to know how to look for is the rarity of a card. You can see this by the color of the small circle in the upper right side of your card.

<gallery Caption="Card Rarity" widths="220px" heights="150px" perrow="2">
</gallery>

=== Battling ===

Now that you have the basics to the game, the last thing you need to know is the actual combat.
For the rules and playing the game itself, refer to the [http://thefarwilds.com/tutor/basic3/basic3.htm Quick Video Tutorial] and [http://www.thefarwilds.com/How_to_play_Introduction.html the How To page]. Before you create your own army try the default ones, they are very balanced and have good cards in them.

Good luck all! See you on the battlefield.

== Domains ==
[[Image:Domains.jpg|left]]
There are several domains that you can construct your army from. There are 3 levels of expertise for each domain. Everyone starts the game with no levels in any domain. The higher the level you gain in a particular domain the more powerful cards you will be able to play from that domain. There are many ways to gain levels in a particular domain. The most common way is to build buildings that give you a level in that domain. For example each Grove you build will give you another level in the Sylvan domain.

<<add picture of domain building>>

[[Image:Thunderhead Reach.jpg|thumb|Here is an example of a building card which gives domain]]

== Buildings ==
Buildings can normally be built in any space that you can see.

If you play a building in a space you don't control that building isn't created immediately (with the exception of the first building played), it is placed as a construction site. Construction Sites take 4 rounds, without being damaged, to become the placed building. If a construction site is damaged it won't progress the next round toward completing the building. Also, Construction Sites don't leave ruins when they are destroyed.

Buildings effect your control area. Building more buildings makes a larger area of control based on their Vision (see [[Cards]]). Some buildings also increase your domain level in their respective domain. Buildings have attributes like creatures, however movement rating and attack power do not apply to buildings.

== The Cards ==
Several cards are listed in the wiki and may be found [[:Category:Card|here]]. You may also use [[User:Veratileladamri|Veratileladamri]]'s card-search utility [http://farwilds.110mb.com/cardlist.htm here].

== What is Gold? ==

== What is Power? ==

Unlike Gold, you can't buy Power. Rather, it is something you gain if you are doing well in various [[Tournaments]]. For instance, you get 4 Power if you win an [[Expert_Clash]], 2 if you are the runner up and 1 if you are third. You can enter Tournaments using Power and you can also sell it in exchange for Gold on the market.

== Why are there two types of currencies in The Far Wilds? ==

The developers work in mysterious ways... The legend has it that one of the devs (who can't be named) had a beer too many and asked himself 'Hm... Why just have one currency? That won't make me Bill Gates rich, will it? Muhahahaha, I will create another one, and then I will be able to buy both Google and Microsoft!' Only time can tell whether the legend will come true in this sense, but it is a fact that we both have Gold and Power in The Far Wilds.

== How do I get an Avatar/Profile Picture? ==

Go to 'Options' in the top right corner of the interface. There is a drop down menu next to 'Avatar' where you will be able to select your desired picture.

== What is a Default card? ==

== What is a Phantom card? ==

This guide is based off a [http://thefarwilds.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1924 forum post] by Manfred, a very skilled [[Sealed]]/Zwar Gokken player.

In Sealed deck/Zwar format, each player opens 6 packs distributed among 5 domains (with unaligned cards as well). One of the domains will have no cards in it except for the basic buildings. Out of these 6 packs you must build your army.

== Deck Building Guidelines ==

You want to try to have a 30-40 card 2-domain deck. Around half of the deck should be creatures. Make sure to include ways to deal with dangerous enemy creatures (2-5 cards) and at least 1 cheap building to capture a flux well. These are guidelines, so you can ignore them as you wish, but you should only do so if you have another winning strategy in mind.

== Choosing Domains ==

You want to consider the following
i) Creatures
ii) 1-domain creatures
iii) Creature control (e.g. lysis, entangle)
iv) Everything else

It's a good idea to chose one domain based on it having the most creatures. You won't use every creature in your deck, but a large number of creatures is almost a neccessity in the Sealed format.

Don't overlook the importance of 1-domain creatures. Games are sometimes decided before players get to 3 domains. Aim to have about 6 good 1-domain creatures.

Look for creature control. Some domains will have a lot, some not so much. Creatures and creature control are often enough to let you pick your domains.

If it's still a hard choice, look at the general card quality of the domains. Do you have lots of cool stuff to chose from? Will that "cool stuff" help you win?

== Building the Deck ==

Once you have your two domains, put ONLY the good cards in the deck. Once that's done, any balance issues can be resolved with minor tweaking. How do you know which cards are the good cards? Lots of experience.

== Breaking the Rules ==

Sometimes you have to break the rules. But break them with caution! 3-domain decks are possible when you won't have enough creatures in 2-domain. 4-domain decks are almost impossible.

It may seem like a good idea to have very few 1-domain creatures, but don't even think about it unless you have plenty of two domain creatures.

== Playing ==

Play well. There aren't any shortcuts; you have to know the game and be good at thinking ahead. One note to newer players: if you build your deck well you should have good plays for your first few turns in your hand (meaning having a 1-domain creature, and ord stone, or a 2 flux 2-domain creature). If you don't, don't be afraid to mulligan. Don't mulligan below 5 unless it's really urgent, but you generally shouldn't just let those first few turns go to waste.

Deck Building

Keyser:

Deck construction in The Far Wilds is a unique undertaking, requiring you to consider many factors. If you are used to building decks in MTG, you will find some similar concepts, but will also have to change the way you go about conceptualizing a deck.

== '''Baby, You’ve Lost that Magic Feeling''' ==

I’m starting with a comparison to Magic: The Gathering, because that’s where many of us started. Most CCG players have a background in MTG or similar, though you may have come to The Far Wilds by a different route. If you don’t know MTG, this section probably isn’t for you, so feel free to jump to the next.

Flux is comparable to mana, though there is a very important difference that directly impacts deck construction. In MTG, your mana base is directly related to the number of lands you have. Playing a land each turn gives you more mana this turn and every turn after. This means you can design based on a mana curve, with its peak at 2-3 mana cards and fewer 1 mana cost and even fewer high casting cost cards. However, in TFW your flux doesn’t reset every turn. It carries over from the previous turn. Not using flux this turn means having that flux available the next turn. Using flux this turn means it’s not there to use the next.

In addition to flux, you must also consider that cards have domain requirements to cast. You will have to design your deck knowing that you will have one domain the first turn and will probably need to have 7 flux to cast another domain card before you can start playing cards with a two domain casting cost. Your opponents can destroy your buildings, bringing you back down to one domain.

Remember that you get 2 flux per turn plus one flux for every well you control.

== '''Know the Requirements''' ==

Your deck must have a minimum of 40 cards. You can use no more than 3 of the same card in a deck, except for the basic buildings ([[Dwarven Hall]], [[Grove]], [[Graveyard]], [[Magma Chamber]]). You can have a max of 5 of each type of basic buildings.

If you are building a deck for the Expert Clash, you can only use cards you own or a default deck. You can’t mix and match the cards from the default deck. You can’t use phantom cards.

== '''Basic Guidelines''' ==

The following are general guidelines to use when designing a deck. There are always exceptions to the rules, such as players designing all building decks.

Make sure you understand how [[Autodraw]] works. It is vital to your deck construction methodology

Stick to the minimum of 40 cards. There are certain cards you probably want to have in your hand at different points in the game. For example, you may really like starting your Sylvan army with a [[Thistle Falcon]]. Sticking to 40 cards allows you to have the highest chance of drawing the cards you need.

Assuming 3 Thistle Falcons in a 40 card deck that includes at least one basic building, you will have one of those Falcons in your opening hand 40.3% of the time. If you 2 Falcons in your 40 card deck, you have s 28.7% chance of starting the game with one. 1 Falcon in a 40 card deck gives you 15.3% chance. In a 45 card deck, you have a 36.3% chance of drawing a Falcon if you have 3 of them, a 25.6% chance if you have 2, and a 13.6% chance if you have 1.

Create a one to two domain deck. It’s possible to create a 3 or more domain deck, but not recommended for beginner deck builders.

Aim for about 15-20 creatures and 10-15 buildings with at least 5 sources of domain. Remember, your opponent will probably take out at least 2 or 3 of your domain sources over the span of the game, and you want to still be able to cast your cards. Plan your domain sources around how many single and multiple domain cards you have.

You will have to consider flux cost and domain cost when curving out your deck. As a general rule, try to keep the cards you plan on casting early game to an average of 3 flux and 1 domain. As the game progresses, you should control two wells and have more domain sources, so your mid to late game cards should have an average cost of 4 flux and 2 or less domain. Use 3 domain and 6 flux cards sparingly. This guideline can be bent with flux accelerators such as [[Ord Stone]], [[Gather Spirits]], the [[Nether Plasma]]\[[Altar of Ix]] combo. Domain accelerators include [[Hadarck's Throne]], [[Fairy Emissary]], [[Astridian Diplomat]], and [[Glimpse of Greatness]].

Plan your domain and flux cost with precision. You know you want to have early plays of 1 domain and 3 or less flux. You probably want to play a creature first turn. If you have 10 one domain creatures with 3 or less flux cost in your 40 card deck, you will draw at least one of them in your opening hand 85.4% of the time.

== '''What's the deal with all this math?''' ==

Math isn't for everyone. The percentages that I talked about above should give you a basic idea of where theses recommendations have come from. However, if you are the kind of person that likes to toy with numbers, see what happens with a larger deck, etc, here is the math I used to figure out the above. If you have any questions on it, feel free to message me (Keyser)

To figure out the odds of drawing a particular card in your first hand, use this formula:

1 - [(D-1-X)!(D-7)!] / [(D-1)!(D-7-X)!]

where D is the number cards in your deck and X is the number of possible cards you are hoping to draw at least one of in your starting hand. For example, if you have 10 1 domain cards that you want to find the odds of drawing that first hand in a deck of 40 cards, you calculate 1 - (29! * 23!)/(39! * 23!).

== '''If you build it, he will come''' ==

The desire to build whispers to you, and you must heed it's call. Keep a solid focus in your deck build. Have an idea of what it is that you want to accomplish and design your deck around that. Don't try to accomplish every goal in one deck.

Give your new deck a bit of time. Try it out a several times before you start making changes to it. It takes time for player and deck to merge into a symbiotic relationship. You need to have time to learn the ins and outs of the deck, learn its good draws and bad draws, and see which cards are helpful and which ones aren't. A couple losses does not a failed deck mean.

Don't get discouraged if your first few tries crash and burn. Remember how many tries it took the Wright brothers to get their plane in the air.

== '''Yeah, yeah, got it... now what?''' ==

UBER has been working on a concept called [[Flux_Counting]]. It should help you on your journey to becoming an advanced deck builder.

==Yeah, yeah, got it... now what?==

Keyser: /* Basic Guidelines */

== '''Know the Requirements''' ==

== '''Basic Guidelines''' ==

Strategy Guide

Keyser: /* Things to Consider */

I write this article not as an expert, but as an avid player and fan of The Far Wilds. The purpose of this article is to give a beginning ''introductory'' strategy guide for the newer players.

== '''Three Approaches''' ==

First, let’s take a look at the general strategy options you have. At the beginning of the game, you can either rush your opponents base, attempt to expand to a second flux well, or sit back and protect your base, waiting to increase domain and cast higher spells.

'''“Run, Forrest! Run!”'''

If you choose to rush your opponent, your idea is to play a lot of small creatures with high speed, or play creatures that you can spawn near your opponent’s base, such as [[Sapling]]s, [[Treeherd]]s, [[Trunk Hermit]]s, [[Lightning Elemental]]s, and even water –spawned creatures such as [[Ghost Ship]] or [[Alearwyn Barque]].

Your idea with this sort of rush is twofold: 1) kill their creatures before they can kill you and 2) keep their domain down. You accomplish the first goal by planting your creatures just outside of their base, usually in area they can’t see. When they play a creature, it comes into play dimmed, and you attack it before it ever has a chance to attack you. The second goal is accomplished by attacking buildings. A word of caution: most base buildings come with “salvage” which means that your opponent will get a portion of flux back if the building is destroyed soon after coming into play. You must weigh the pros and cons of allowing your opponent to have two or three domains against the salvage flux. Sometimes it is better to kill the buildings, as many of the better cards in this game require control of two or more domains.

It is often a good idea to place a building construction site around a flux well so that it builds while your opponent is dealing with your rush attack. If you keep your opponent occupied for four turns, your construction site completes, and you now have the control of more wells than your opponent does.

'''“World Domination”'''

If you choose to expand, your goal is to control an extra flux well early. You send out a creature with high vision and/or speed to find a new flux well and place a construction site, or you play a couple two vision buildings to expand from your base to the center well. Remember, buildings placed on a hex you control build instantly, but those placed in area you don’t control require 4 turns to construct. If the building is damaged, it doesn't construct that turn.

Placing a construction site must be done with extreme caution. The site will only have 3 health until it is finished constructing. Try to place construction sites in areas that your opponent can't see and will have problems getting to quickly due to terrain. A [[Thistle Falcon]] or a Scout can single handedly destroy your hopes of expansion. Be wary of building destruction spells. Your opponent doesn't have to be next to the site to [[Tremor]] or [[Volcano]] it; he just has to be able to see it. It is recommended to construct with low flux cost buildings rather than a 7 flux base.

Expanding by way of construction is risky, though [[Hill Giant Contractors]] can turn this into an extremely viable strategy.

Mountain Folk often uses [[Galom's Prospectors]] to find a hill or mountain near a flux well, control it for a turn, and insta-build a building on that spot. Sylvan and Dark Legion can see the other wells with fast creatures such as Scouts or [[Hell Cat]]s or high vision creatures such as Thistle Falcon.

Expanding towards the center can be accomplished by placing your first building one space towards the middle from a flux well and placing two two vision buildings towards the center, such as [[Earthworks]], [[Foul Obelisk]], [[Great Oak]]s, [[Beacon of Celador|Beacons of Celador]], [[Bamboo Watch Tower]]s, etc.

When expanding, you must be able to defend your buildings. Expanding in a way that allows your opponent to kill your buildings before you can kill their creatures means you are a huge disadvantage, especially because most buildings cost five or more flux.

'''“Xenophobia”'''

If your deck is one that needs three or so domains in order to play your key cards, you will want to protect your base rather than sending out a rush. You will protect your buildings and territory with creatures , spells, and enchantments until you have the two or three domains needed to play your cards.

Once these cards are played, you carry out your strategy, whatever it may be. You may want to cast a [[Barkskin Dragon]] with [[Energy]], a [[Blind Assassin]] or [[Tortured Ghost]], a [[Bilgrin's First Prototype]] or a [[Dag Cannon]] and then wreak havoc. You may want to use [[Charm]] on your opponents creature. You may want to have a solid protected base and cast a [[Bronze Statue]].

The possibilities are almost endless, but remember that this strategy is susceptible to building and/or mass destruction cards (Tremor, Sink Hole, Volcano, etc). Your 3 domain creatures are also susceptible to removal spells ([[Lysis]], [[Sunburst]], [[Fissure]], etc)

'''“Mix it up”'''

Of course, you can mix and match the above strategies. My suggestion is to see which one best fits your personality, and give it a shot. See what happens. Try out each of the strategies above with the various default armies, play several games, and then mix and match the strategies. You may want to rush at first, and then sit back and protect your base. You may want to expand and then rush. You may want to try doing all three at once (yeah, good luck with that). But most importantly of all: have fun.

== '''Things to Consider''' ==

'''“Turning Points”'''

This is a turn based game. You don’t play all your creatures, spells, buildings, enchantments, at once, and then see what your opponent does. Rather, you have an action, then your opponent gets an action, then you get one, then they get one,..until both of you have passed.

This means that the order in which you do things is of great importance. The life of your creatures and buildings depends on this order. You must be aware of what actions the opponent has, what cards are in play, what you can see and even more importantly, what is happening in the areas of the map you can’t see. Is his [[Elven Scout]] near enough to attack your Prospector if you move him into new territory ? If your opponent has just one creature in play, wait for him to move it, and then move your Prospector knowing he can’t be attacked.

If you have a [[Hypnotic Banshee]] or [[Apprentice Timesap]] in play, using their ability should be one of the first things you do. Dim his creature before he can attack with it. Otherwise, he will attack, kill your creature, and dimming his creature will now be a mute point.

Playing cards such as [[Bindweed Poultice]], [[Telda Bloom]], or [[Reform]] should be done after your opponent has attacked your creatures. If you heal a creature before it takes damage, then casting the heal was somewhat useless. A card like Telda Bloom should be played after your opponent has attacked your creatures but before you attack his. You don’t want to heal his damaged creatures, too!

Some cards should be played after your opponent has moved or attacked with his creatures. If a creature is dimmed, it can’t move of it’s own accord, so casting [[Cloudburst]] or [[Teleport]]ing a dimmed creature into water is a great way to kill creatures with 2 or less health.

Be on the lookout for your opponent doing things like that. If you have a Beacon in play, you could save your creature over water if you haven’t already used the Beacon’s ability that turn.
'''
“Know when to hold ‘em. Know when to fold’em. Know when to pass”'''

A round ends when both players pass without playing a card. The player that passed last will play second the next round. This means, that passing first and making sure you play first next round, can be extremely important. You can move a creature out of range of your opponents newly played threat. You might be able to dim or remove this threat with a Lysis. You might be able to use that first critical move to save your creature or destroy his.
Knowing when to pass can make the difference between winning and losing.

'''“Know thy Flux”'''

Pay attention to the flux and domains that your opponent has. If he seems t be holding off playing something, it may be because he needs that flux to cast something, such as a Cloudburst or Teleport. When I’m playing against an Elemental deck, I’m wary to move my creatures into areas he can see as he might have a Cloudburst in hand waiting to destroy my dimmed creature. However, if I see that he just spent all of his Flux, then I have no fear of him being able to cast a Cloudburst, and I can send my Scout in to attack his Vapor Mahal.

Sometimes, it’s better to keep flux open rather than play a creature. If I’m being rushed, I might keep one flux available rather than playing a creature so that my opponent is scared of a Cloudburst, even if I don’t have one in hand. He has no way of knowing that. He might be afraid to move or attack with his creature if he thinks I’ll kill it once it’s dimmed.

When you see an opponent with two Mountain Folk domains and 4 flux, you better make sure your creatures are not clumped together, because a [[Volcano]] is most likely smoking its way towards you.

== '''Don't Get Caught Off Guard''' ==

Here is a list of some of the more common cards you'll play against. Be on the look out for them and find the best ways to use them yourself.

Creature Removal: [[Sunburst]] (Ele), [[Cloudburst]] (Ele), [[Icy Encasement]] (Ele), [[Volcano]] (MF), [[Fissure]] (MF), [[Lysis]] (DL), [[Possession]] (DL) <often combined with [[Crypt Doctor]] or [[Altar of Ix, [[Teleport]] (Syl), [[Ascent]] (Syl), [[Entangle]] (Syl)

Creatures to scout and expand with: [[Craig Scout]] (MF), [[Galom's Prospectors]] (MF), [[Elven Scout]] (Syl), [[Thistle Falcon]] (Syl), [[Hell Cat]] (DL), [[Red Imp]]s (DL)

Buildings with two or more vision: [[Vapor Mahal]] (Ele), [[Bamboo Watch Tower]] (Syl), [[Great Oak]] (Syl), [[Beacon of Celador]] (Syl), [[Ivory Spire]] (Syl) [[Earthworks]] (MF), [[Hadarck's Fort]] (MF), [[Foul Obelisk]] (DL), [[Bone Fortress]] (DL), [[Eye of Varexes]] (DL)

Building damage cards: [[Tremor]] (Ele), [[Fissure]] (MF), [[Volcano]] (MF), [[Sinkhole]] (MF)

Creatures that come into play undimmed: [[Cinder Mogi]] (Ele), [[Lightning Elemental]] (Ele)

All purpose cards: [[Negate]] (MF), [[Ord Beast]] (Un)

You must know these cards. You must know their domain requirements and their flux cost. If your Elemental opponent only has 1 domain, you are mostly safe from Elemental destruction cards. However, if he has 6 flux, he could be waiting for your to dim your creature so he can cast a Vapor Mahal and a Coudburst. When your Mountain Folk opponent has 4 flux and two MF domains, be wary of a Volcano. A Dark Legion opponent with 4 flux and two domain is likely to cast a Lysis.

== '''Famous Last Words''' ==

I should conclude this with something witty or inspiring or, if I'm lucky and smart, something that's both. Unfortunately, my creative juices are on empty, so I leave you with these final words:

Go forth and Morph. Live long and Prospector. May the Flux be with you always.

Keep Cards is an incredibly fun way to increase your card collection. You play a Keep Cards draft by joining "Keep Cards" on the right side of the Lobby. You will walk away with 3 packs worth of cards and, if you win, a significant pot of gold. The draft will cost 500 gold or 50 power.

== How it Works ==

You click "Keep Cards" on the right and pay 500 gold or 50 power. When 4 players join, the draft starts.

Each player opens a pack of cards. You look at all of the cards in this pack, decide on one card that you want to keep, and click that card. That card is added to your collection at the bottom of the screen. The remaining cards are passed to the next player, and you get to look at the cards passed to you.

You pick one of these cards, and pass the rest of the cards to the next player.

When all cards have been drafted from the first packs opened, each player opens a second pack and repeats the process.

When the second pack is finished, you do the same for the third and final pack.

After all cards have been drafted, you build a deck from the cards you took.

You use that deck against the other players in a single elimination tournament.

== Prizes ==

You keep all cards that you drafted. The top two finishers get gold pieces as well, with first place receiving over 500 gold and second place receiving almost 200 gold.
